Flourishing for All: A Whole School Approach to Character Education

Drawing on the latest world-leading research from the Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues (University of Birmingham) as well as examples of best practice from more than 450 schools and organisations worldwide, I will provide an introduction to the concept of flourishing in schools, how this is underpinned by a whole-school approach to character education and share practical insights into how to make this a reality. I will introduce the research-informed framework for character education I co-authored last year and how this free resource can be used to develop an authentic, sustainable approach which leads to lasting and meaningful impact.

A Curriculum for Excellence and Managing Change

Designing, implementing and delivering a brand new curriculum is no small feat and requires a clear vision and intent. In 2022, work began on designing a curriculum that would challenge learners and set the highest of expectations whilst developing enduring understanding of particular themes. This is complimented by providing students with the opportunity to affect and implement change in the school alongside a thoughtful approach to wellbeing. Change is never easy and this presentation aims to dissect what we do and how we do it (and the journey so far).

Evaluative Leadership - Assessment for Learning for grown-ups!

The session will provide tools and ideas for evaluative leadership in your school and provide an opportunity to reflect on drivers of effective evaluation. We will explore how monitoring activities provide information but connecting that evidence and digging deeper into why it is happening provides a deeper understanding of what is working well, what needs to be adapted in order to improve learning even further.
Participants will have opportunity to use the KAA Online platform and explore key levers for evaluative leadership. The session will be interactive, providing activities you can take with you back into your school.
